I’ll be on vacation for a couple of days. So, unfortunately, I won’t be able to blog until about this coming Monday or Tuesday. Butttttt…….I’ll be sure to be on the lookout for any interesting dishes and resturaunts. I’m heading up to San Fran, so you can get a idea of what I’ll be around up there. Anyways, I hope to be blogging as soon as I can. Ta-ta for now!

Summertime BBQ!

One of my all time favorites on the BBQ are kabobs. They’re delicious, and have a mixture of vegetables, fruit, and meat!
Check out this recipe! It’s a mixture of different items and definitely has a delicious mexican flair to it.

-3 tablespoons lime juice
-2 tablespoons fresh cilantro (optional)
-1 tablespoons of parsley (optional)
-2 cloves of finely chopped garlic
-1 teaspoon of ground chipotle chile pepper
-1 cup of mayonnaise
-1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into cubes (to place through the kebab stick)
-1 pound boneless, cubed steak
-1/2 cup of red bell peppers (sliced into pieces large enough for a good fit on the kebab stick)
-1/2 cup of green bell peppers (sliced into pieces large enough for a good fit on the kebab stick)

Crabby Eggs (Deviled Eggs)

Like I promised you, here’s another spectacular recipe for deviled eggs! This one is from one of my cookbooks, Deviled Eggs by Debbie Moose. I just had to share this one with you, because it’s so delicious. For tips on how to prepare the eggs, please check the previous posts. Enjoy!

Crabby Eggs

-6 hard-cooked eggs, peeled, cut in half (longway), and yolks mashed in a bowl
-2 tablespoons mayonnaise
-2 tablespoons sour cream
-1/3 cup chopped cooked crabmeat, picked over for shells and cartilage
-3 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon diced avocado
-2 teaspoons chopped onion
-2 teaspoons capers, drained well
-1 teaspoon chopped garlic
-1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
-1/2 teaspoon celery seeds (found in the spice section of your supermarket)
-salt and black pepper to taste
-paprika for garnish

1. With the yolks in the bowl, add the mayonnaise, sour cream, avocado, onion, capers, garlic, lemon juice, and celery seeds in. Mix thoroughly.
2. Place the mixture into the whites of the eggs, and add the crab meat on top.
3. Garnish with paprika, salt, black pepper, a bit of lemon juice, and celery seeds.

Hey everyone, here’s the article I promised you. I found some really great cooking gear, not to mention cute, from Williams Sonoma. We have everything from sandwich cutters to tiered cakelet molds, and Star Wars themed cookie cutters.

1. Williams Sonoma Dinosaur Sandwich Cutter and Box

                         This is really great for kids, it’s not only super adorable but it has a lot of other great things about it as well. It’s made of stainless steel, and it has the green cushion on top so the cutter won’t press into your fingers, and it’s made so you can use as most of the sandwich as possible. I love this, and it’s a steal for only $9.95! Williams Sonoma also carries this in a heart, star, and apple mold.

2. Williams Sonoma Non-stick Rolling Mat

Seriously, how come noone told me about this before? The name says it all, and for us bakers, we all know how frustratingly annoying it is when your dough starts to stick to the mat. This is why the non-stick rolling mat is so great. It’s a bit pricy for $50.00 but you’ll be using it constantly. The non-stick silicone surface allows optimal control, and it’s pretty big so it’ll be easy to accomadate large batches.

3. Williams Sonoma Message-in-a-Cookie Cutter

                  This is a super handy item when you want to make your cookies just a bit more special for events such as birthdays, thank-yous, and more. You can use the pre-made messages or customize your own by sliding in each individular letter. This set comes with 3 cookie cutters, seven premade words, three sets of alphabet letters, and a mesh bag for easy cleaning and storing. It’s also a superb buy at only $19.95!

4. Williams Sonoma Star Wars Cookie Cutters

May the force be with you (while making these awesome cookies). If you’re a fan of Star Wars, what more can I say? These are simple and easy to use, work efficient and great, make great presss, and feature YODA (the best Star Wars character ever, in my opinion anyways). They’re a bit expensive for $20.00, I’d like to see them at maybe around $15.00. But, they are new items. My advice: Wait to get these, unless you really LOVE Star Wars.

5. Williams Sonoma Mini Tiered Cakelet Pan

One of the most elaborate molds I’ve ever seen. The cakelets are superb-they would be great at tea parties. The finish allows the cakelet to pop out easily without sticking, and it’s made of durable cast-aluminum so the mold will press on crisp and sharp. This is $36.00 and totally worth it-a very elaborate mold and the cakelets will surely be a hit at your next gathering!

Now, with summer comes those fruity little drinks everyone loves. From lemonade to ice tea, I’m bringing you guys recipes all this week for some great drinks. To start off, check this one out!

Strawberry and Honey Lemonade

Here’s a spin on the classic favorite, Strawberry Lemonade. This recipe will make 20 ounces. Take in mind, you’ll be mixing two different liquids together to get the resulting Strawberry and Honey Lemonade.

1st Mixture: 1 cup of water, 3-5 strawberries (sliced into 4 pieces each) , 1 cup of white sugar, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, and 2 tablespoons of honey

2nd Mixture: 7 cups of water, 3/4 cup of lemon juice, 1/2 cup of fresh orange juice, 1/4 cup of finely sliced peaches

INSTRUCTIONS

Using a pan, turn the heat on to the maximum. First add the ingredients from the first mixture together and mix together frequently for about 10 minutes. Remove from heat completely, cover with plastic wrap, and place in the refrigerator until it’s fairly chilled.

After chilling the first mixture, find a large pitcher or container to place it in. Then, add the 7 cups of water in and stir. Finally, add the remaining ingredients.

*If you’re a fan of cinnamon like me, after pouring into a glass to serve, sprinkle a bit of it on top and add a lemon slice onto or into the cup. Enjoy!
